Bill Sandberg

2018 Inductee

“Coach” Sanderg had a total of 30 years of coaching experience in the state of Georgia. During his career, Bill coached several all-state players, and several of his teams reached the playoffs. Bill was the first head football coach at Ridgeland High School. After that, Bill devoted himself to coaching at the middle school level for the next 11 years before retiring. He had a tremendous love and respect for the kids that he coached and for the game of football. Upon retirement, he was honored with a Georgia High School Association lifetime pass, signifying a minimum of 20 years of coaching at the High School level in the state of Georgia.

Among his many career accomplishments are:

  • Serving as Football Coach at Paulding County, GA from 1971-1975

  • at Miller County, Ga from 1975-1977

  • again at Paulding Country from 1977-1980

  • and at Carrollton Central, GA from 1980-1981

Coach Sandberg accepted his first head football coaching position at Chattanooga Valley High School , and he remained there from 1981-1987. He served as Head Football Coach in Monrow, GA from 1987-1989. He became the first head football coach in Ridgeland High School history and served from 1990-1992.

It is my distinct pleasure to induct Coach Bill Sandberg into the inaugural class of the Ridgeland High School Hall of Fame.
