Heather Taylor Marinko

2024 Inductee

We proudly induct Heather Taylor Marinko, a member of the Class of 2001, into our hallowed hall, for excellence in Ridgeland Volleyball.

Heather's tenure at Ridgeland High School was nothing short of legendary. Her dominance on the volleyball court is evidenced by a staggering list of accolades, a testament to her unparalleled skill, dedication, and leadership. A three-time All-Area selection, she elevated her game to earn the prestigious title of All-Area Player of the Year twice. Her exceptional talent garnered recognition far beyond our local community, as she was twice named Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps in Volleyball and, in a crowning achievement, earned the Chattanooga Times Free Press Player of the Year award.

Her regional dominance continued with two Northwest Georgia Player of the Year titles, and her prowess was recognized at the state level with two All-State selections. Heather's leadership was instrumental in guiding the Lady Panthers to three Area Championship titles, captaining two of those championship teams. Upon graduation, she held the school records for career kills and aces, and to this day, she remains the only volleyball player in Ridgeland history to have her jersey retired—a symbol of her enduring legacy.

Heather's excellence extended beyond high school, as she continued to shine at the collegiate level, earning Gulf South Conference Newcomer of the Month honors during her freshman year at the University of West Georgia. Please join me in welcoming a true icon of Ridgeland athletics, Heather Taylor Marinko, into the Ridgeland Athletic Hall of Fame.
