James Turner

2018 Inductee

Mr. James Turner, affectionately known as “JT,” was a member of the illustrious first graduating class at Ridgeland High School, the class of 1990.

During his high school career, Mr. Turner played baseball and basketball for all four years, but he is best known for being one of the most electrifying tailbacks and free safeties in Ridgeland High School history.

Among his various accolades are the following honors and distinctions:

  • Freshman of the Year honors

  • 4 time KZ106 Player of the Year honors, beginning his freshman campaign when he led North Georgia in rushing with over 1000 yards.

  • 8 time Player of the Week honors

  • 4 time All State selection

  • 4 time Most Athletic distinction

  • 4 time All Region selection

  • North Georgia MVP selection his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years

  • Multiple scholarship offers

Following his years as a competing athlete, Mr. Turner dedicated 17 years to coaching and teaching young children (including his own daughter) what it takes to be a great athlete, whether in softball or basketball. His legacy continues in the many who are succeeding in reaching their goals of prospering in collegiate sports now.
